It's been a loooong time...

Hiya, long time no see (I guess?)

Guess I should probably clarify what kind of stuff happened leading to this site's original closure, and why there's only one staff member now.

To try and cut a really long shit storm short, back in the day there were several sites active, and some people came up with the idea of instead making one big site for everyone. There were pros and cons of course, and there were people that agreed and people that disagreed. But one misunderstanding after another kept happening, people got butthurt, things were said, the usual kinda crap that happens in a community that's so spread out and communicates about as well as a bunch of soaked gnats on any good day.

At the time, DFT had three "Owners" so to speak. None of us really had the time or energy to run the site as we were all preoccupied with other things, so we'd appointed staff to help manage the site- not that it was overly active but it's better to be safe than sorry. We'll call these guys A, B and C.

Owners A and B were keen on the idea of making one big site, and were helping the other people involved in creating it. C (Who I'll clarify to be me)was initially against the idea when the plan involved shutting down all the other sites, but became neutral when the plan changed and dropped that part. People talk though, and a lot of the time it's not exactly pleasant stuff. On the side, I heard several other people complain about this idea, with one person stating it made owner A sound "power hungry" and like they just wanted control. I took these comments back to A and B to let them know that there were still people on the side who were misinformed about what would happen with this new site (A and B weren't planning on being staff, and were just helping to build it), who were still unhappy with the idea, so that things didn't blow up and they had a chance to put up posts and notices explaining things properly. Instead, this is where things got nasty.

Owner A took it way more personally than necessary, feeling that the community as a whole were ungrateful and undeserving of the work they'd put into the DFT and all the work they'd just put into the new site, so they threatened to delete the DFT out of spite. I don't remember if owner B came and told me of this, or if I woke up and found it in a group chat, but either way I found out, and owner B had managed to talk A down to leaving the site in permanent construction mode. I had no computer at the time, but I felt that A getting angry and deleting it anyways was still a risk, so I logged into the main admin panel through the mobile version, and changed the password and the email. So of course things only got worse from there.

When I'd told A and B about what people were saying, I'd refused to name names. B approached me on the side and asked if I could please let him know in confidence, so I did. B then went and told A, who went on a tirade to find "the truth", and didn't exactly find what they were looking for.

A got even angrier and quit the communities, slandering myself and the admin of another site (who they'd never really even talked to)via facebook before leaving, calling us liars among other things, saying that I manipulated the whole thing to sabotage their project for a "main hub" site etc, and if I remember correctly, blocking me on social media. B did apologise for telling A, as he thought it would help them move on from it all instead of stewing over who it was, rather than go off again over the whole thing.

So I shared with B the admin password that I'd changed, and this site sat in permanent construction/maintenance mode for six months to a year or so I believe, and then B and I discussed the possibility of one day reopening. We agreed it was something that could happen one day, and occasionally little bits of work were done on it. I don't remember if B wanted much involvement in this, but I remember it personally being a plan on the back-burners while life carried on demanding my attention.

Life has it's ways of fucking with you though, and now B and I have not spoken in almost a year for some very personal reasons that I feel aren't necessary or fair to go into. Almost no one, if anyone, has heard from him, and we don't know if he's ever actually going to return. A and I have had the odd small talk over the years, but I haven't seen them since I migrated from skype to discord.

Now we get to the more recent stuff, where a troll made their own site, led a bunch of people along, gained the trust of some people, spent a while denying being a troll when called out on it, and then finally admitted that they were before leaving. The whole thing was completely unrelated to the DFT, but it made me realize we'd all kind of migrated to personal friend circles over the years, and that there were no longer any open sites that people could come to or randomly find on the internet via dumb google searches (like how most of us originally found these places). So I thought about it for a bit, then made up my mind, dusted off the DFT, reworked it a little to be more "general public" friendly, and reopened it to fill in the gaps. Sure people that've been around for a long time tend to outgrow the whole "DeHefty" thing, or move on from posting a lot and end up just lurking, but to me these sites have never just been about "zomg reel digmenz", they're where I found some of the most important people in my life, and I feel like I'd be a very different person today than I would be if I hadn't met these crazy folk on the internet. So that's why the DFT is open and in it's current public format- to talk about weird, sometimes nonsensical theories and ideas about potentially real creatures, but also to feel like you have a place to vent, mess around and make friends if you're in a situation where there's nowhere else for you to go but the internet.


As for the art, if you mean the uggo ass banner then yeah that was me- it's been like that since this site was originally made and it's in sore need of an update. I'll get to that eventually. But if you feel like you recognize the style then you're probably not wrong, and I have a fairly good idea of who you are as well, but it's up to people to decide on whether or not they want to let people know what old names they used to go by- there's a lot of folks who used to troll or be generally unpleasant, who highly regret it and just want to start fresh. I've gone by Binky on most other sites though, and my reason for only using the "Sokimon" account on here this time, is because I'm not intending to link this site to anywhere or anyone else- if that makes sense. It's not tied to any one school of belief, and I don't want people who've known me in the past to worry that they'll get in trouble for having an opinion that's different from my own.


Anyhow, whether you stick around and post or lurk is entirely up to you, and you're welcome to come and go as you please so long as you treat everyone well. This is as much a fansite as it is a "believer" site,so you're under no obligation to discuss things or think any of this is real just by being here. As for people's old names, if you think you might know who someone is, please PM them about it instead of posting, just in case it's something they'd rather keep private, y'know?
