I know this is a topic that's existed elsewhere, but I don't feel comfortable saying anything, so I hope it's okay that I ask here? I don't know where else to go.
How do you think being separate people in the same body affects bonds? Do you think it's possible for them to have different partners? Can one be fooled into thinking a Digimon is their partner when it's actually their systemmate's partner?
To explain, um, I'll use a hypothetical! Say we remember having a Guilmon as a partner as a child; the usual red with black stripes and Virus attribute and orange eyes, and that was all in our past memories. But then later, it was really hard to remember that time and we assumed that our Guilmon had always been pale blue with red eyes, and it was a Vaccine attribute? But then we find old art of us with a Guilmon that's just classic red like canon, but we don't remember our Guilmon looking like that ever even though it apparently did. And the thing is, I'm a different person than who was originally here and who was partners with that red Guilmon, and it's harder to connect to this new-colored Guilmon and maybe we lose contact? But because we remember a time when we were close as partners, I assume they are my partner too, even though the connection isn't as strong. But were they actually just the original person here's partner and I'm fooling myself into thinking "I remember those memories even if they weren't mine they're still my partner" and that we actually aren't partners? I don't know why it changed colors though.
I've heard before that people don't think it's possible because it's just different personalities, but even so, they're different people entirely even if they occupy the same body? Especially for systemmates who see themselves are reincarnated or otherworldly. I don't see why they wouldn't have different souls or auras, and that seems to be popular for deciding who your partner is? So what do you do if you think maybe they weren't your partner after all, but the original person here doesn't exist anymore? Is it like their partner's died and now they're partnerless or do we still have a bond?
I can explain more so sorry if it's really confusing?
