Talk about long titles, eh?
Now let's start: What is the definition of Meditation?
I believe there are many, many ways to define meditation. But for this post I'll define it as: Reaching a state of extreme focus and relaxation to the point where your mind enters a special state that I like to call "The Meditative State".
Now, when most, if not all of you, think of meditation, the first idea you get in your mind is sitting cross legged on the floor or on a pillow or some other flat surface, right? While that is a form of meditation, that is only one form of many, many, forms of meditation. But, I want to begin with the benefits of Daily Meditation, and why I feel like everybody in this community NEEDS to do it to move forward with their paths.
Meditating Daily.
To some people, meditating for 10 minutes is a great task. So, if you think 10 minutes is hard, start with 5 minutes. I challenge everybody on here to meditate EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. for AT LEAST 5 minutes. Do it. For a person who has no experience with spiritual stuff or even meditating, this seems like a hard task. But set a goal for yourself. A goal like; "Do one 5 minute meditation session every day for 5 days." To some people, this seems like a hard task, to others, this seems like an easy task. If you are not used to meditating daily, after the first one, two, three, or quite a few first times, you'll be expecting results, and most people will get discouraged when they don't get results. Don't get discouraged. If you have not meditated before, you most likely will not see any results in just the first week, hell, even the first month. For you to make noticeable progress, it will take a long time. But keep going everyday. If you break that daily meditation streak for even just a few days, that will set you back a lot. I would consider the first few days to the first one or two months will be the hardest hurdle to overcome, because you have to make the daily meditation a habit, or else your efforts will take MUCH longer.
Now, let's talk about the BENEFITS. Since this site is for, what I like to call, "Digimon Spiritualism," a lot of these benefits will have to do with such.
For all the people who haven't contacted their partners before, this is how you can 100% make sure you'll be able to do it. That is the secret key to the formula. Meditation. Meditate every day. Yes, people have been able to contact their partners without meditating before, but it is very rare and unlikely. But don't think it'll work instantly. Even if you meditate every day for 10, 20, hell, even 30 minutes every day, it'll probably still take a while for you to reach the point of clear connection with your partners. I haven't tested it out, but I'm sure if you spent longer times every day properly meditating, you can reach that point much quicker.
Contacting your partners isn't everything you can do. You can go further beyond. Lucid dreaming. Astral projection. Communication with spirits. Daily meditation is a great connect to everything spiritualism, Digimon, or otherwise. It's the gateway to entering the astral plane freely, controlling your energy to your will, and being all around enlightened. It's how you reach true enlightenment in many cultures. As soon as you can get a handle on basic meditation, you can then move on to higher and more complex forms of meditation on your own, to gain more spiritual power.
All around peace in your life. I know that's the cheesiest thing you could probably hear about meditation. But it's true. If you meditate every day, you reach better mindfulness in your life. It'll help you focus and concentrate. It'll help you think more clearly, and help you clear your own path into enlightenment. Trust me. But do not think it comes quick or easy, it takes much time.
Now those are only a few benefits, but I want to go on to How does one do meditation?
HOW DO I DO MEDITATION?
However you want. Seriously. There is no ONE way to do meditation. A lot of people think Meditation is just sitting down cross legged with your back straight. That's only one way to do it.
If you want to meditate, I believe there is one criteria that should be met.
Focus.
Focus on anything. Just focus. For example, if you want to focus on contacting your partners, focus on that. Think only about your partners for 5 minutes. You can let your mind wander, because if you try to think about every other thought, then you aren't focusing on contacting your partners. I know that's probably a little complicated, so let me put it in this way: Imagine you have two minds. One mind is you trying to concentrate on talking to your partners. The other mind, is your monkey mind. It's like when you're trying to focus on how to solve a math problem, it's the part of your brain that just goes "DON'T STOP BELIEEEEEEEVIIIIIN-" while you try to figure out how to solve the problem. That part of your mind is going to ALWAYS be active, even during meditation. Be like water, let it flow. Just try to ignore it. Just focus. Focus on talking to your partners. Nothing else. Like when you're in class and you zone out and all you focus on is the clock you're looking at. Focus. Just, focus.
But does this mean you have to sit still? Hell no. Ever heard of Tai Chi? You can meditate while moving. A LOT of people meditate while moving. I suggest everybody try to sit still and meditate, but for a lot of people, that just does not work. Instead, try going out for a walk or a jog. Put on some shamanic drumming. You can either let your mind wander, or you can focus on just one thing. I like to focus on the feeling of my feet hitting the ground. The energy that flows through me to move my legs, and that energy that leaves the body everytime my foot touches the ground.
You can also listen to music to help you meditate if you like. Listen to whatever music that works for you. I like to listen to shamanic drumming or the Avatar The Last Airbender soundtrack. (Yes, the Avatar The Last Airbender Soundtrack. It's very helpful because it has a special vibe that most songs don't achieve for me.)
Now, how do I, Gai, meditate? I'm going to tell you how I meditate.
I sit on my bed. Often cross legged.
I put on a blindfold. Often a bandana, but anything works. I need it to block out all light for me to focus.
Then I focus on my partner. I focus on trying to hear them, specifically. Digimon talk through telepathy, so I try to focus almost like I'm trying to hear a voice in my head.
I usually know I'm in a meditative state when I can see a colorful pulse. I can feel the energy pulsating from my soul. It's hard to describe, but after a while, you get a hang of how you know you're in the meditative state.
If you've read this whole post through, then I'm glad! I hope it helped in some way, shape or form. I challenge EVERYBODY who is on this site to meditate EVERY SINGLE DAY for at least 5 minutes. Keep a journal by your side to write down your experiences through meditation. Have a good night or day y'all.
