Been super nostalgic for this stuff lately, and idk how many ppl are still here, but for anyone who is do you still believe in Digimon or wish you could believe in them? If no, what brings you here still? I still wish they were real but also don’t enjoy the main character syndrome that Digimon gives me and others, so it feels complicated, but I just very much miss when I believed in something so otherworldly. Also wondering if anyone believes in other non conventional things? Not like ghosts, aliens or cryptids but weird things with small communities like this used to be. and if no one is here to reply then That’s ok

I still believe just as strongly as I did since the beginning. However, my paradigms about how they're "real" has changed over the years. And I think it's okay to allow yourself some flexibility with how you think and experience Digimon. During and before Digiclipse days, the majority of legitimate believers (non-trolls) thought they were physically real in some form. Whether that's tied to digital AI or some otherworldly being with powers. Nowadays, I tend to approach the "real" Digimon aspect in a metaphysical sense. It's simply easier to interpret and explain to others that Digimon are spirits or spiritual entities. Maybe as familiar spirits? Either idea has their pros and cons. But the metaphysical route did make it easier for me to form a deeper connection to my partner. So I've kept with that ever since.
As for the the main character syndrome you mentioned, it is an entirely different topic. But as long as you're a functioning person in society and not entirely delusional then is it that bad to perceive yourself in a special way? Others might feel differently. If it drives you to do more for yourself or others, I think it can be a powerful tool for personal growth.
